Presentarán el NanoKit (el maletín del ICMAB) con diferentes nanomateriales que producen los diferentes grupos del ICMAB, y hablarán de los productos donde la nanotecnología juega un papel importante, del impacto de la nanotecnología en la sociedad y los medios de comunicación, y sobre el boom de la nanotecnología en estos últimos años.

    Last June 2017, Anna May Masnou and Sole Roig, from the Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites Group (NN), filmed a video for the JoVE contest: Film your research. Although the video, entitled "A Story on Bacterial Cellulose", did not make it to the final, the video made it to the Top 15 critically acclaimed videos by the jury, among hundreds of other submissions in this internatinal science communication contest.
  • Iron oxide nanoparticles stress the cells

    ICMAB researchers lead a study on the toxicity of iron oxide nanoparticles based on the analysis of specific genetic markers linked to nanotoxicity in the C. elegans organisms. Part of the experiment, published in the journal Nanotoxicology, has been carried out at the ALBA Synchrotron, in its infrared light MIRAS beamline. The study suggests that nanoparticles can be captured by intestinal cells in their interior, they can interact with cell lipids, and they can activate cellular mechanisms of oxidative stress.
