The Institute of Materials Science of Barcelon (ICMAB) is hosting a reception on Friday, October 6th, at 9:30 am, to recognize Prof. Vladimir Laukhin, who is retiring after 16 years at ICMAB.
Professor Vladimir Laukhin, ICMAB researcher since 2001, is an internationally recognised scientist with expertise in the field of solid state physics. He has made a number of fundamental contributions in experimental physics of low dimensional metals and superconductors. In the past few years, his main efforts have been devoted to a new generation of plastic electronic devices, based on multifunctional organic molecular conductors, as well as electric-field controlled spintronic devices.
The programme of the Retirement Reception is the following:
Date: Friday, 6th October 2017
Venue: Sala d'actes Carles Miravitlles
9:30 am - Opening by Prof. Xavier Obradors, ICMAB Director
9:45 am - Seminar: "Vladimir Laukhin's milestones in the physics of organic (super)conductors" by Prof. Laukhin's first PhD student,
Prof. Dr. Mark Kartsovnik, Engineering Physics Group, Physik-Department, Tëchnische Universität München.
10:45 am - Coffee break
11:15 am - Short talks by Prof. Enric Canadell, Prof. Josep Fontcuberta and Prof. Jaume Veciana, ICMAB
12:15 pm - Closing remarks by Prof. Concepció Rovira, ICMAB
12:30 pm - End of the reception
Prof. Vladimir Lauhkin has numerous stays as guest professor at various research centres of high level in Europe, in the United States of America and Japan. He has more than 210 publications in peer review Scientific Journals and in Proceedings of International Conferences, which accumulate more than 3900 citations. He is also an inventor of five patents, and during his career he has given more than 150 lectures at international conferences.
Prof. Laukhin graduated from the Moscow Physical Technical Institute, Faculty of General and Applied Physics, in 1969. In 1975 he earned his PhD from the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences (at present: Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics of Russian Academy of Sciences). He specialized in Solid State Physics (Experimental Physics).
From 1968 to 2002 he worked first as a Junior Scientist, then as a Senior Scientist, and finally as a Leading Scientist (from 1990) at the Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chernogolovka MD, in Russia.
Prof. Laukhin joined ICMAB, first as a BBV distinguished professor and then as ICREA Research Professor, in 2001. While at ICMAB, Prof. Laukhin worked in different projects involving mainly the NANOMOL and the MULFOX groups.
You are all welcome!
