My name is Alex and I am originally from Sweden, where I also did my PhD in physics at Uppsala University. After that I spent three years as postdoctoral researcher in Zürich, Switzerland, before coming to ICMAB and Barcelona via an international postdoc grant from the Swedish research council. In my research I use computational methods to study the properties of materials, with focus on magnetism and magnetic materials. At ICMAB I will work with Massimiliano Stengel to investigate strain gradient induced magnetic phenomena.
In my free time I like running, snowboarding, cooking and eating good food.
Hello! I'm Alba Martos, a chemistry student at UAB. I'll be staying at ICMAB for a few months, investigating and elaborating my degree's final project.
Hello, I'm Laura from Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and there I did my degree in chemistry, I specialized in electrochemistry with an interuniversity master's degree in Cordoba, although part of that time I was in Alicante.
Hi! My name is Ivan, I am from Barcelona and I am a Physicist with a master in Nanoscience&Nanotechnologies. I'll be joining the group Nanopto, specifically, I'll work on the project "Sensoraïm". The project aims to develop an organic thermoelectric energy harvester device which will power sensors for smart monitoring of viticulture. The aim is to enhance the quality of wine!
I enjoy traveling, hiking, photography and recently I've joined a Volleyball club!
Hi, my name is Clemens Lindermeir from Wolfenbüttel, Germany. I am eighteen years old and joined the ICMAB to do an internship for a year. In Germany I study chemical engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology. Apart from that I enjoy being outdoors, riding motorcycle and playing my guitar. I am also a big fan of travelling. During my stay I`d like to learn Spanish (and maybe Catalan) fluently and I will keep looking for new experiences and friends to spend time with.
Hi! My name is Carla. I’m 16 years old, and I’m from Igualada, a little city near Barcelona. I’m spending a month at Icmab to learn many things and to work with photovoltaic devices. I love reading and learning languages and also all the mainstream activities such as going out, watching Netflix, listen to music and travelling. See you around!
Hello, I am Mauricio Morel, from Universidad de Chile. Now I have joined the group of Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures to do a postdoctoral stay for one month. I am a materialist chemist and I work in different areas such as organic synthesis, and liquid crystals, polymer, and nanostructured nanomaterials.
See you around!
I am a postgraduate student from the University of Manchester visiting Dr. Xavier Torrelles' group to learn surface x-ray diffraction data analysis. My undergraduate degree was from University of Manchester in Chemistry. I enjoy mountain running and cycling in my spare time.
My name is Alba and I am from El Figaró, a small village an hour from Barcelona. I studied Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and now I am finishing a master on pharmacology. For that, I am currently doing my master's thesis at ICMAB in the Nanomol Group. As you can see in my profile photo (taken in El Camino de Santiago), I love hiking. I also like learning languages (I know a bit of italian and russian) and I play the piano and the recorder.
My name is Laura and I am from Italy (as well as from all the places I have been travelling to so far). At Icmab, I will be working on topics related to new materials and devices for photovoltaic applications. Out of Icmab, I keep being obsessed with green energy-related matters!
