I'm Mahyad from Iran, I did a bachelor degree in Material Engineering at AUT back in Iran and currently I'm doing a master degree at UAB (Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology). Also I'm working on my master thesis under supervision of Carmen Ocal at ICMAB, working with AFM and studying the triboelectric effect. On my free time I like to hang out with friends and having fun.

Hi, I am Halyna from Ukraine. I am right now in my last year of PhD in Paris, and coming here for a two-months visit. Before PhD, I studied in double-degree master on materials science in France/Germany. Here In ICMAB I am planning to grow thin films of ferroelectric perovskite oxides (BaTiO3 solid solutions), and to study their photovoltaic properties, making the comparison to ceramic samples of these materials.
I like travelling (both city tourism and hiking in nature), discovering ethnic dance, art etc., interested in history, pagan and oriental religions, and practices like yoga.

My name is Sara Battista and I'm a PhD student at University of L'Aquila. I did my bachelor's degree in chemistry at University of Rome "La Sapienza" and my master's degree in Chemical Science (organic chemistry) at University of L'Aquila. I'm working on liposomes used to develop a sensor for dosing biomarker enzymes and to vehiculate natural substances with farmacological activity. Now I'm doing a period of three months at ICMAB with the Nanomol group to investigate our formulations using a different methodology to increase stability and selectivity of systems.

My name is Xiaodong Zhang and I come from Northeastern University in China. I had a background of Metallurgical engineering and did something about inorganic materials. Now I’m in the group of Crystallography of Magnetic and Electronic Oxide and Surfaces(CMEOS) under the guidance of Prof. José Luis García-Muñoz to extend my education career as a Ph.D. student. I’ll work on preparing different multiferroic oxides and analyzing their related properties. Hoping that I can do some novel and constructive work afterwards. Hi, I'm Albert and I'm a chemist from Barcelona. I got my bachelor's degree in Chemistry in Barcelona (UB) and then I got my PhD in 2013 (ICMAB-UAB) under the supervision of Dr. Rosario Núñez. After spending more than 4 years and a half abroad, first as a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast and then as a Research Scientist at Green Lizard Technologies (Belfast, UK), I'm back to ICMAB to start a collaborative project with Dr. Rosario Núñez and Dr. Gerard Tobias to synthesise boron-enriched carbon nanomaterials as Theranostic Agents for biomedical imaging and BNCT. Hello everyone! I'm Mikko Kataja and I come from Finland, where I did my PhD in Aalto University on magneto-optically active plasmonic nanoparticles. I am now in ICMAB in Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures research group to explore the possibilities that active oxide materials, such as ferromagnetic and ferroelectric oxides, offer in the field of optics, especially for active nanoscale optical devices. In my freetime, I enjoy cooking and board games.
After my PhD in Physical Chemistry in Zurich I spent several years at the University of Cagliari in Sardinia. I came to ICMAB in October 2017 and I work in the field of computational condensed matter. Besides science I like to spend my time in nature running, climbing, hiking, sailing...
Hello, I am Ellina Kesselman, a PhD in Biochemistry. I came from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where I work as a Microscopy Research Engineer, using Cryo- Electron Microscopy and other microscopy techniques (Atomic Force Microscopy, Light Microscopy) for supra-molecular structures imaging and investigation. I will spend 3 weeks in the laboratory of Prof. Nora Ventosa, in the Nanomol group, to learn the technology of the new GLA nanoformulation to implement it in our lab for the research purposes in the frame of the Smart-4-Fabry project. I am fond of reading, art, music, as well as of outdoor activities: travelling, hiking, snorkeling, skiing.

Before coming to ICMAB, I completed a double PhD degree in Nanomedicine and Pharmaceutical Innovation from the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS) in the University of Santiago de Compostela and in Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology from the Unit of Biomimetic Micro and Nanomedicines (MINT/ INSERM U1066 ) in the University of Angers. my name is Gabriela Avila and I'm a biotechnologist engineer from Costa Rica. Right now I'm doing my master in Biochemistry, Molecular biology and Biomedicine in the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) .
For my master thesis i'll be working at the ICMAB, with the Nanomol group in developing Dynamic supramolecular hydrogels for cancer immunotherapies.

Hello! My name is Zsolt Kelemen. I did my PhD in Hungary and have joined at the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow under supervision of Prof. Clara Viñas. My research interests include chemistry of low-valent compounds, ferrocene-containing systems and ionic liquids. My current project is to tune both the photoluminescence and conductive properties of new COP materials.
