Welcome Joana Ribeiro at ICMAB!

Hello! My name is Joana Ribeiro and I am from Guimarães, a city in the North part of Portugal. I am an applied physicist and just started my PhD at the University of Minho. The goal of my work is to increase the thermoelectric properties of Transparent conductive oxide thin films. At ICMAB, I will be working together with the Nanopto group, measuring the thermal conductivity of doped ZnO and TiO2 thin films.

I practice japanese martial arts and enjoy travelling, photography and drawing.

Welcome Genís Guillem at ICMAB!

Hi, I'm Genís Guillem from Sabadell. I am in the last course of de the degree in Physics and Chemistry of the UAB and I will be making my TFG in chemistry in the ICMAB.

Jewel 1Hey, I'm Jewel and I am from India. I have joined as a PhD fellow in the Inorganic Materials and Catalysis Lab (LMI). I will be working with different nanoparticles and their characterization for various applications.

Welcome Ariana Roldán Carretero at ICMAB!

Hi there! I am Ariana Roldán, a Chemical Engineer who is developing her Master’s thesis at ICMAB. I feel attracted to the world of engineering, more specifically, the one related to chemistry and biology. For this reason, I decided to broaden my knowledge by studying the master's degree in biological and environmental engineering. It brings together some of the fundamentals that I need to achieve my goal, which is being part of a scientific breakthrough. I am delighted to be able to contribute my experience in the field of drug nanoencapsulation being part of Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites group. I am looking forward to learn as much as possible from this opportunity.

Hi! My name is Nerea Murugarren and I am studying Biochemistry in the University Autonomous of Barcelona. I decided to do the practical work for my last degree year in the ICMAB as I found interesting the research field of the group "Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites".

Hi, I'm Shima Fasahat from Iran and Isfahan city. I came to the ICMAB for a summer research internship in the field of nanocarbon supercapacitors. This was a great chance for me to learn many new things. Currently I am an undergraduate physics student at university of Isfahan, Isfahan, Iran. I am interested in learning new languages and at the moment I know English and French in addition to my mother tongue which is Persian. I'm going to learn Spanish for the third foreign language. Welcome Stephen Filippone at ICMAB!

Hi!! I'm a PhD student at MIT in the Materials Science department. I am spending time here under the supervision of Ignasi Fina to characterize the low temperature dielectric properties of BaZrS3 and Ba3Zr2S7.
I enjoy cooking and reading. Currently I am reading 3 books: Narcissus and Goldmund, The New Jim Crow, and Behave. I'm also a daily practitioner of yoga and meditation. Most of all I miss my bicycle.

I work in the laser processing group with Dr. Angel Pérez del Pino using laser processing technique to improve the materials used for fabricate graphene electrodes useful for supercondenser applications.

Hello everyone! My name is Leonardo and will join as a postdoc in the Nanopto group, working on the development of strong-coupling plasmonic materials under the project ENLIGHTMENT. I come from Italy, but I spent the last 7 years working abroad between Europe and the United States. Outside the lab I am an avid rock climber, a guitar player, and I enjoy hiking. I’m Marta and I will be in Nanomol group during my TFM research. I’m from Lleida, but I carry Barcelona in my heart, too. I’m a nature lover and a sports enthusiast. I enjoy reading business books and listening to music. Here, I show you my last visit to the Monastery of Montserrat, I love its history, spirituality and magical surroundings. I absolutely like walking through its mountains while I discover and experience its spectacular and amazing views with the best company of a good friend, such as David Escalante, who doesn’t stop surprising me with the most beautiful secrets of this wonderful place.

Hi,
My name is Alex and I am originally from Sweden, where I also did my PhD in physics at Uppsala University. After that I spent three years as postdoctoral researcher in Zürich, Switzerland, before coming to ICMAB and Barcelona via an international postdoc grant from the Swedish research council. In my research I use computational methods to study the properties of materials, with focus on magnetism and magnetic materials. At ICMAB I will work with Massimiliano Stengel to investigate strain gradient induced magnetic phenomena. 

In my free time I like running, snowboarding, cooking and eating good food.

Hi! My name is Ivan, I am from Barcelona and I am a Physicist with a master in Nanoscience&Nanotechnologies. I'll be joining the group Nanopto, specifically, I'll work on the project "Sensoraïm". The project aims to develop an organic thermoelectric energy harvester device which will power sensors for smart monitoring of viticulture. The aim is to enhance the quality of wine!
I enjoy traveling, hiking, photography and recently I've joined a Volleyball club!

Hi, my name is Clemens Lindermeir from Wolfenbüttel, Germany. I am eighteen years old and joined the ICMAB to do an internship for a year. In Germany I study chemical engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology. Apart from that I enjoy being outdoors, riding motorcycle and playing my guitar. I am also a big fan of travelling. My name is Alba and I am from El Figaró, a small village an hour from Barcelona. I studied Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and now I am finishing a master on pharmacology.
