Congratulations to our two new doctors: Davide Blasi and Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Rosillo

Last Friday 19 May, we had an exceptional day at ICMAB: there was the thesis defense of two PhD Researchers: Davide Blasi and Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Rosillo.

  • Davide Blasi defended his thesis on "Molecular and supramolecular strategies for highly luminescent trityl radical and their sensing applications", supervised by Prof. Jaume Veciana and Dr. Imma Ratera (NANOMOL group).

Davide worked on the synthesis and characterization of organic radicals, with improved optical properties and chemical versatility, and very interesting for biological applications.

  • Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Rosillo defended his thesis on "Volume resistive switching in metallic perovskite oxides driven by the metal-insulator transition", supervised by Prof. Teresa Puig and Dr. Anna Palau (SUMAN group).

Juan Carlos worked on materials for data storage: the new resistive-random access memories (RRAM), based on the resistive switching effect of perovskite. The resistive switching effect is the the sudden and non-volatile change of the resistance due to the application of electric stress.

Congratulations to both of them! We hope you have enjoyed your time at ICMAB!
