Jose Muñoz is an Early Career Researcher. He received his PhD in 2015 working at Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and at Trinity College Dublin (TCD). His activity was mainly focused on the characterization, optimization and functionalization of electrochemical carbon-based nanocomposite (bio)sensors for electroanalytical and electrocatalytical approaches.
Currently, he works in NANOMOL Group at Materials Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) as a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. M. Mas-Torrent and Dr. N. Crivillers. He has started a novel research line focused on the development of carbon-based self assembled monolayers platforms for the sensitive impedimetric and electronic multi-determination of carbon nanoparticles in water.
Accordingly, his research falls into nanomaterials and electroanalysis as well as surface engineering, nanotechnology and electronics.
Dr. Jose Muñoz is interested in designing and synthesising novel electrochemical and electronic platforms based on (hybrid-)carbon nanomaterials for (bio)sensing purposes. For this aim, his work ranges from (i) the fundamental studies in order to chose and integrate propertly the (bio)recognition element on the sensing platform to (ii) a more applied perspective in order to achieve proof-of-principle devices towards the determination of analytes of environmental and biomedical interest.
