Organic Electronics Materials and Devices
I received the BSc degree in Materials Chemistry and the MSc degree in Photochemistry from University of Bologna. After obtaining the PhD degree in 2014, I joined the „Graphene Flagship‟ as post-doctoral researcher in the group of Dr. V. Palermo. in 2016 I was recipient of the “Juan de la Cierva” grant and I'm actually working at ICMAB-UAB (Barcelona) under the supervision of Dr. Marta Mas-Torrent. I started a new research line focused on novel Electrolyte-Gated Field-Effect Transistors (EGOFET) sensors. These EGOFETs have excellent water-stability and are ideal candidates for long-time electrical monitoring. Furthermore, these devices can be fabricated with a technique compatible to roll-to-roll as well as on flexible substrates. To summarize, my scientific expertise arises from three different research areas: 1) organic and molecular electronics, 2) graphene and graphene-based composite and 3) sensors and bio-sensors.
My research work consists of two main activities: i) materials processing concerning mainly roll-to-roll techniques and printed electronics and ii) sensors based on organic transistors gated through an electrolyte. The former focuses in the study of structure/properties relationship of organic semiconductors processed by a solution shearing technique while, the latter involves the exploitation of electrolyte-gated field-effect transistors (EGOFETs) as novel technological platforms in the field of biological and environmental sensors.
